A downloadable game for Windows

This is a collection of the very first games I ever made, uploaded for preservation and personal history purposes.

Notes about all games

  • Press Escape at any point to close the game.
  • Press F4 to switch between Fullscreen and Windowed modes at any point.
  • Game volume might be a bit too loud on start, so it's recommended to turn it down using the volume mixer in Windows before proceeding.
  • Some text that wasn't originally in English has been translated and updated with relevant information.
    • All grammatical errors were made intentionally to imitate my knowledge of English ~13 years ago for proper immersion.

Mr. Dimension

Creation date: 2011-07-20

Game engine: Game Maker 8

My very first game that I see as "complete". It was never released anywhere but I'm glad I still had it saved.

This game is about a person known as "Mr. Dimension", who presumably is able to travel between dimensions. He's on an adventure to retrieve some valuable gem.

Controls

  • Arrow Keys to move around.
  • LMB on the (X) symbol that exists on every level to restart the game.
  • (Cheat) Shift to delete all enemies.

Trivia

  • The icon on the game executable is a crudely drawn Kamikaze enemy from Serious Sam.
  • The "Yeehaw!" screech at the end is from Serious Sam as well.

Serious Sam is now more serious

Release date: 2012-01-07 (Part 1); 2012-03-22 (Part 2)

Game engine: Game Maker 8

A series of two loosely connected games that follow Serious Sam on his journey through different places in different times.

Controls

  • Arrow Keys to move around and jump.
  • Ctrl to shoot the weapon.
  • (Part 2) Shift to throw grenades.
  • M to go to the main menu (or skip the intro in Part 2).
  • R to restart the current room.
  • (Cheat) B to prevent bosses from shooting.
  • (Cheat) D to open all doors.
  • (Cheat) F to reveal the exit object.
  • (Cheat) G to give the weapon.
  • (Cheat) I to delete all item objects.
  • (Cheat) K to kill all enemies.
  • (Cheat) S to reveal secret passages.
  • (Cheat in Part 2) N to skip to the next room.
  • (Cheat in Part 2) W to create a wall object below the player.

Notes

  • Sam in Part 2 can occasionally get stuck on edges while holding a weapon. In this case a jump is required in order to move further and then down.
  • To "activate special levels", type "WAKIUH" (or just smash all keys on the keyboard until it works).

Trivia

  • In the beginning of development, the first game used to have a nameless red stick figure character in place of Serious Sam and the game title used to be "Serious Terra" for some reason (nothing to do with Terraria).
  • Levels from the in-game editor cannot be played. The reason why it was created is to try and "crowdsource" level ideas for future parts of the game, which never happened.
  • The "WAKIUH" password for secret levels doesn't mean anything, it's complete nonsense.

Serious Sam: The Last Man

Release date: 2012-05-08 (Alpha 0.1); 2012-05-20 (Alpha 0.2)

Game engine: Game Maker 8 (Alpha 0.1); Game Maker 8.1 (Alpha 0.2)

One of my first attempts at making a top-down shooter game. Heavily inspired by Serious Sam: The Greek Encounter (also made with GM8.1) to the point of taking music and sounds directly from it. My least favorite game out of the bunch.

Controls

  • Arrow Keys to move around.
  • RMB to move towards the mouse.
  • Mouse to aim, LMB to shoot.
  • (Alpha 0.1) R to restart the current room.
  • (Alpha 0.2) Alt to restart the game.
  • (Cheat) G to toggle god mode.
  • (Cheat) K to kill all enemies.
  • (Cheat in Alpha 0.2) X to add 1000 ammo.
  • (Anti-lag measure in Alpha 0.2) U to destroy all enemies.

Trivia

  • This game was born from my very first attempt at making a top-down shooter game that featured a different main character (unrelated to Serious Sam), who was fighting against a horde of zombies (remade into Rocketmen from Serious Sam).
  • Alpha 0.2 has an unfinished mode where Sam wields a flamethrower instead of a machine gun. I wanted it to be selectable in the re-release but I really didn't feel like remaking half of the game because of how unflexible it is.
  • Menu music in Alpha 0.2 is taken directly from Happy Wheels for some reason.

I Wanna Be STALKER

Release date: 2013-08-27 (Beta 1.0); 2013-12-28 (Beta 1.1); 2025-01-04 (Beta 1.2)

Game engine: Game Maker 8

A hardcore platformer that is heavily inspired by Super Meat Boy and I Wanna Be The Guy and Minecraft. This is probably one of my most ambitious games to date still. I worked on it mostly throughout the Summer of 2013, with the last New Year update being finished right at the end of it.

The story, simply put, follows a character called "STALKER" that has to travel through many locations full of traps in order to catch up to his "evil brother" and stop him before he destroys the world.

Notes

  • The game has an extremely hilarious joke with Start and Quit buttons in the main menu, the functionality of which has been swapped around. So in order to actually start the game, use the Quit button.
  • The game is quite tricky. Many levels have "secret passages" that you have to take in order to complete them, so don't be afraid to save scum or cheat.
    • Press X in-game to quick save, then press Z in-game to load the save.
    • Press F2 to immediately skip to the next room.
  • The final boss is extremely stupid due to the poorly written sequence of actions, so it's very easy to break and beat him.
  • Beta 1.2 version of this game was prepared specifically for this re-release.
    • The full development changelog is included as "ReadMe.txt" file.

Controls

  • WASD or Arrow Keys to move around and jump.
  • E or Shift to do a small jump.
  • R to restart the current room.
  • X to do a quick save.
  • Z to load a saved game.
  • Escape to exit to the main menu.
  • (Cheat) Q to enter cheats (see below).
  • (Cheat) F2 to skip to the next room.

Cheats (Q in-game)

  • NRYUEOPBXNMAST - Skip to the next room.
  • TMNFRDEWAOIVPXZHS - Disable some traps.
  • MEAT4EVER - Go to "Meat Golem" boss.
  • IH8FACT0RY - Go to "Escape from Factory" level.
  • HALDAZTROER - Go to "Hell Destroyer" boss.

Trivia

  • Being a dumb kid with no knowledge of English that I was, I didn't know what the word "stalker" even meant, so I chose it as the name of the game character. Looking back at this game in retrospective, it might not have been the best title for it.
    • The only place I've seen this word before is the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, which I have never played.
    • I was thinking about naming the game "I Wanna Be a STALKER" at some point but I thought that "a" looked weird there, so I decided against it.
  • The cheat code "NRYUEOPBXNMAST" is actually just the word "NEXT" with random characters placed in-between each letter.
  • The cheat code "TMNFRDEWAOIVPXZHS" is actually just the word "TRAPS" with random characters placed in-between each letter.
  • If I still remember correctly, Beta 1.1 was never actually released anywhere. The only public versions used to be Beta 1.0 and Beta 1.0.1.
  • Beta 1.1 was made specifically for the New Year celebration and had a Christmas hat permanently attached to the player.
  • The project file that I had saved had a tiny bit more progress since Beta 1.1, which has been turned into Beta 1.2 for this re-release.
  • The game was supposed to have warp zones akin to Super Meat Boy which would unlock other playable characters but this was never realized.
    • The game has unused character sprites for The Kid (I Wanna Be The Guy), Creeper (Minecraft) and Sam (Serious Sam).
